A graduate of Harvard Medical School as well as the Duke University Medical Center general residency in psychiatry, Dr. Rosa has maintained an office practicing psychiatry in Central New York since 2008. In that time, he has undergone additional training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the International Masterson Institute for Disorders of the Self followed by formal psychoanalytic training with the International Institute for Psychoanalytic Training.

For nearly 20 years, Dr. Rosa has seen patients suffering from a variety a mental health conditions including depression, anxiety and the consequences of traumatic experience. The effect of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis has been to help many individuals better negotiate their lives. In exploring these issues, an ever increasing number of questions have arisen surrounding the meaning of life and the purpose behind our relationships. Despite the traditionally agnostic position found in many psychological theories, the longing of the human heart for true healing of the wounds in our lives continues to manifest in patients’ stories. Dr. Rosa has discovered that honoring this longing and generating a narrative for one’s relationships, including one’s relationship with God, can be profoundly healing.

Dr. Rosa has been a husband for over two decades and is the father to his and his wife’s eleven children. Informed by this life experience, as well as his training as a psychoanalyst and medical doctor, he views his patients from the vantage point of multiple lenses which contributes to a view of the human person as a whole. This perspective has provided the conditions for real growth and healing in the lives of his patients over many years of practice.
